The Collision Prevention System
The RigSense wireless sensors monitor all moving equipment on a top drive to help prevent collisions between equipment, keeping operators safe and downtime minimal.
Elevator Rotation Sensing
The ERS tracks the mechanical alignment of the elevator links, feeding data into the operator's display panel to prevent dangerous operational errors. Specifically, it provides safety interlocks that stop the driller from hoisting the top drive into the derrick racking board if the elevators are out of position.
Bail Angle Sensing
The bail angle sensor tracks the angular movement of the bails, feeding data into the operator's display panel to enable safety overrides and prevent dangerous and expensive equipment collisions.
Block Extension Sensing
This sensor tracks the exact physical displacement of this extension system, feeding real-time data into the operator's display panel to prevent equipment collisions and mechanical failure.

Elevator Rotation Sensor (ERS)
Description
The Elevator Rotation Sensor (ERS) determines the elevator position and rotational direction of the bails. It can be used within a tight derrick structure and with third party pipe handling systems in order to prevent ‘hooking’ the elevators around the torque tube.
Installation
The Elevator Rotation Sensor can be installed within 30 minutes using only the hardware supplied with the sensor installation kit.
Bail Angle Sensor
Description
The Bail Angle Sensor provides direct measurement of the bails in real-time. The sensor can be installed on all rigs with top drives, and can be used with other sensors to prevent collisions with the racking board, derrick structure and other moving equipment.
Installation
The Bail Angle Sensor can be installed within 45 minutes using only the hardware supplied with the sensor installation kit.
Block Extend Sensor
Description
The Block Extend Sensor provides direct measurement of the block angle. The sensor can be installed on all rigs with top drives, and can be used with other sensors to prevent collisions with the racking board, derrick structure and other moving equipment.
Installation
The Block Extend Sensor can be installed within 60 minutes using only the hardware supplied with the sensor installation kit.

Guard
Description
The sensor guard protects the transducer's sensitive electronic circuitry, battery and wiring from collisions with moving equipment and falling debris such as mud, tools and pipe joints.
Battery
Description
The transducer is powered by a 3.5V lithium ion battery. It's a rugged, industrial-grade power source engineered to endure extreme environmental conditions and features specialized hermetic sealing and robust chemistry to operate safely across drastic temperature fluctuations, high vibration, and intense mechanical shock common in drilling environments.
Transducer
Description
The transducer is the real-time monitoring component that uses specialized electronic circuitry, programmed firmware logic and temperature protected wiring. It delivers constant data to the central display panel seen by the operator, which shows the rotation of the elevator in degrees, and is accurate to within 0.1°.
Mount
Description
The prefabricated transducer mount is designed to secure the device body, while giving the hall-effect sensor an unobstructed line of sight of the rotator teeth. Custom mounting options are available for various equipment configurations.
Mount Plate
Description
The mount plate provides a robust, secure backing for the transducer and guard to be fastened to. It is designed for modular adaptation, with drill hole patterns for various sensor additions and mounting options.
Hall Effect Sensor
Description
A Hall effect sensor is a solid-state electronic device that detects the presence and strength of a magnetic field. It operates by measuring the voltage variance—known as the Hall voltage—created when a magnetic field disrupts an electrical current flowing through a semiconductor strip. Because it senses position, speed, and proximity without any physical contact, it does not suffer from mechanical wear and tear. This makes it highly durable and ideal for harsh, dirty environments where dust, water, or oil would ruin standard mechanical switches.
